It might seem that someone you've worked with for ages (even a relative) is being harsh in their assessment of a situation. It might also be that you need an outsider's view of where you're really at. What an accountant or other professional might not be able to put on paper is the amount of goodwill that's been generated. A good friend might remind you that your connections, whilst not showing up on a balance sheet, have real value.
