Gemini
Home and Family

Every year, between (roughly) May 21st, and June 21st, the Sun moves through the sign of Gemini. In Western astrology*, the Sun's apparent path around the Earth is divided into 12 equal parts - the signs of the zodiac.

Gemini is considered to the be the 'third' sign of the zodiac. Gemini belongs to the Air group of signs: it also belongs to the Mutable group.

So what does this mean?

The twelve signs have different mission statements. Gemini wants to take information and to leave it where it's most needed. Their thirst for knowledge is unquenchable and from first to last day on Earth they show interest in anything and everything. Like a beautiful butterfly, Gemini flits and dances on the wind, occasionally landing - but never stopping for long. Your inquisitive Gemini baby is likely to get on the move quickly. The urge to communicate being so strong too, he or she is likely to talk quickly too.

Just how good your Gemini baby is at getting what it needs will depend on the position of the Moon and the other planets at birth. These factors will help determine the degree to which your Gemini baby will fulfil his of her ambitions.

You can help:

Your Gemini baby will love the blend of sounds, movement and colour. Gemini doesn't 'do' bored - nor does Gemini tend to sleep for long (at least until adolescence). The Gemini nervous system tends to be highly sensitive with over-stimulation leading to unhealthy excitability. You can help by balancing little naps with little walks where there's much to see and hear. You can also use camomile and lavender colours and smells to calm an over-active system.

Sounds are so important to your little Gemini. They'll be quick to pick up words and may have a gift for learning languages. You may have to help your little one to slow down and get the words right though - it's all too easy for Gemini to 'get by'.

Books are hugely important to Gemini. Their imaginations are fed by the shapes and sounds of words on a page. Others might have favourite teddies and toys, whereas Gemini usually has a book at the ready. Your Gemini baby will love stories - and especially those where the central character is learning something.

Your Gemini baby might not be too good at sitting still - and may have a gift for multi-tasking. Your task may be to help them learn to concentrate. Though he or she may grasp concepts quickly, others in their classes at school may not. Teaching them the art of coping with waiting for others to catch up and not to be bored, may be one of the best gifts you can endow.
