Every year, between (roughly) June 21st, and July 21st, the Sun moves through the sign of Gemini. In Western astrology*, the Sun's apparent path around the Earth is divided into 12 equal parts - the signs of the zodiac. Cancer is considered to the be the fourth sign of the zodiac. Cancer belongs to the Water group of signs: it also belongs to the Cardinal group.
So what does this mean?
The twelve signs have different mission statements. Cancer wants to nurture and protect. As one of the Cardinal signs, your Cancer baby won't be afraid to take the initiative. Yet Cancer is the first of the Water signs and your little 'water-baby' is likely to be ultra-sensitive. Yours may be the first baby on the block to differentiate between washing powders - they know what 'feels' good and they know what doesn't! Comfort is everything to your little Cancer-babe: being swaddled, tucked up with a parent, fussed over and generally protected, gives them their first experience of how life should be for everyone.
Just how good your Cancer baby is at getting what it needs will depend on the position of the Moon and the other planets at birth. These factors will help determine the degree to which your Cancer baby will fulfil his of her ambitions
You can help:
Recognising your Cancer baby's sensitivity is a must. Your Cancer baby may have noticed you've angled their crib differently, that you've used a new laundry aid (so things don't feel or smell as they should) - they might also have picked up on your anxiety. You Cancer baby needs you to be the calm at the eye of their storm. He or she will soon pick up on the sounds and atmospheres that calm you and take delight in watching you relax. There's just SO much you can learn from one another.
Your little Cancer babe is unlikely to cope well with you doing two things at once: so do concentrate fully - especially when feeding. They don't like much noise either - but do respond well to music. It won't take you long to discover which tracks they like or dislike! The point in all this is that it's up to you to learn - and to remember.
When it comes to memory, your Cancer baby will be a class act. He or she will remember so many details : the where, the when - and probably what the weather was like! They expect you to do the same too. So you will need to learn their favourite toy and favourite song and to talk about what makes them so.
Your little Cancer babe will love stories - especially those that centre on them and the past they've yet to discover. They're likely to be drawn as much to the old as to the new --so don't make the fundamental mistake of throwing away something you think is past its sell-by-date. Their idea of these may be in century units!
Cancer babes need to hear you say how much you love them as well as experience your cuddles. Sound and action must combine. They'll also welcome you giving them trust. Even when not very old, you can give them an object to 'look after' and they'll do a splendid job.
